If you love scenting your home with candles as much as we do, you may have noticed the terms "fragrance oils" and "essential oils" being used interchangeably by companies to describe different scents. Because we choose to use both essential oils and high-quality fragrance oils that are specifically formulated for candles, we'll clarify the distinctions between the two and the benefits that we found in each.
Essential oils have a long history of use, and have since gained popularity in medicine, aromatherapy, and the fragrance industry. They are derived from plants and natural sources and have been known for such benefits as promoting relaxation, reducing stress, enhancing focus and improving our moods. They include scents such as Lavender, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Sandalwood to name just a few that we use in our products.
Fragrance oils are synthetically created in laboratories for candles and other fragrant products, such as perfumes. They often have a richer and more enduring scent, providing for a more enjoyable experience that we look for in a luxury candle. The ingredients that the fragrance oils are created with is what our company looks for when choosing a supplier.
Because there are so many candle fragrance oils on the market to choose from, we chose to source the highest quality and cleanest ones that we can find. Our suppliers follow close guidance from The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM). This organization is an independent, non-profit scientific research institute that conducts and publishes safety assessments of all ingredients used for their aroma-producing properties. RIFM’s work is evaluated by a panel of international experts in toxicology, dermatology, pathology, environmental, reproduction, and respiratory science with no ties to the fragrance industry.
We have carefully selected our suppliers because they chose to remove the harmful materials known to The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials such as phthalates, organ and acute toxins and cancer-causing ingredients that require a Proposition 65 warning in California.
We truly believe that the quality of the oil in your candle is crucial because of its potential impact to you and your home and family. The difference between our company and many others out there is that we only create and sell candles that we would use in our own homes.
